**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assists Corporate Safety Manager in developing, implementing and maintaining our wellness and safety program in order to maximize associate wellbeing by promoting wellness and minimizing risk of physical injury in the workplace.
- Ensures compliance with Highline wellness and prevention of injury policies and practices
- Recommends, coordinates, implements and conducts educational and training programs relative to wellness and injury prevention for the purpose of empowering Associates with the knowledge to achieve long term goals\
- Maintains training records.
- Performs safety inspections of the farm (formal and informal), with and without the JHSC specific to identifying physical hazards, ergonomic risks and improper body mechanics; will perform individual random audits of the safety program
- Ensures safety and wellness bulletin boards are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
- Investigates safety incidents at the farm and assists in the proper completion of incident investigation forms
- Enters incident information in incident tracking software
- Reports all noted safety infractions requiring corrective counselling to the area supervisor, Corporate Safety Manager and the Corporate Human Resources Manager
- Responsible for return to work plans for injured or ill associates requiring accommodation
- Monitors on-going medical information and works with department managers in identification of suitable modified work as required
- Responsible for communication with Human Resources department, payroll and department managers regarding return to work plans, restrictions, regular updates and progress reports
- Provides weekly reports to the Corporate Safety Manager regarding all modified associates at the farm
- Participates as a certified management representative for the farm’s Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Authorized to stop operations if a safety concern has been identified; this authority is to be exercised in consultation with the Corporate Safety Manager and in communication with the Corporate Human Resources Manager
- Required to be first aid trained. If present, provides first aid treatment for on the job illness or injury
- Participates in WSPS Safety Group (SGAP) for the required farm location
- The position does require travel between farms as needed. Expected to spend approximately 70% of the week on the farm floor.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned as required

**Qualifications**:
A combination of professional experiences or equivalent combined education, designation and work experience will be considered;
- Minimum of 2 years Safety, Wellness and Training experience, Grade 12 minimum, Knowledge of WSIB claims management and RTW planning is preferred
- Previous experience with Safety Groups would be an asset
- Requires strong computer skills in word documents and spread sheet or database type program entry and information use
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills and professional behaviors, specifically maintaining confidentiality and sensitive information or dealing with diverse personalities
- Capable of independent and self guided work and accepts and adapts to change
- Requires a caring and compassionate attitude to all associates
