**Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association** is a non-profit charitable community services agency established since 1976. Our spectrum of services has grown from the delivery of Chinese meals-on-wheels service to a full range of community support services, covering the whole Greater Toronto Area. With a staff of 500 members (including full-time and part-time staff) and the help of a pool of 850 active volunteers, we serve over 15,000 clients a year, including seniors, adults, youth with physical, social, emotional and health challenges. 3,000 of whom are "home-bound" and frail. We are currently seeking casual **Home Helpers** to join our Home Care team. **Responsibilities**: Provide in-home services to clients as per their requests for assistance. Duties include but are not limited to the following: - Rendering home help services to clients according to service order (e.g. cleaning, organizing, defrosting refrigerator, cleaning stove, sink, counter tops, toilet and bathtub, cleaning windows at reachable/reasonable height, washing, drying and putting away dishes) - Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors. Dusting and wiping furniture - Making beds and changing bedsheets - Laundry and ironing (soaking soiled garments, machine-wash and dry, putting clean laundry away and perform minor mending) - Meal and snack preparation as needed - Assisting in preparing grocery list, doing grocery shopping, and putting them away - Garbage disposal and recycling, green bin where applicable **Requirements**: - Experience in housekeeping duties and preparing meals - Possess a valid Food Handler’s certificate - Speak fluent English and a second language that reflects the community, eg. Cantonese, Mandarin, is an asset - Possess caring attitude, good interpersonal skills - Demonstrated good judgement, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively with the Home Care team - Flexible working hours with availability to work shift hours, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays - Must be able to travel from home-to-home on a daily basis to service clients in the York Region, Scarborough, and Downtown Toronto areas - Ability to speak a language that reflects the community served, eg. Cantonese, Mandarin, is an asset - A valid vulnerable sector police record check completed within one year - Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset **Benefits**: - Comprehensive Orientation Program **Wage**: $19 per hour - Carefirst is an equal opportunity employer.
