Description

The Admin/Accounting position leads and coordinates all administrative duties at the ministry unit for a senior executive position. The incumbent also performs a wide variety of accounting duties.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Performs various accounting duties such as bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, issues official receipts (e.g., for income tax purposes), handles and reconciles petty cash and other related accounting duties (e.g., bank deposits, government remittance and rebate forms).
Drafts and types correspondence or generates reports (e.g. letters dealing with administrative issues, dictation, acknowledgements); checks typing for accuracy, sorts and prioritizes typing assignments within general guidelines; researches and responds to difficult enquiries on behalf of the supervisor.
Drafts annual budget for ministry unit/department under the supervision of Corps Officers; monitors budget expenditures to ensure compliance.
Maintains an accurate, ongoing record of all donations to the Centre, and sends acknowledgement and receipts out in a timely manner.
May keep an up-to-date record of employees sick and vacation time; may calculate full time employees' vacation entitlement and scheduling.
May order all stationery supplies and maintain adequate office supplies and other supplies as needed order stamps when supplies are running low); may arrange for maintenance of office equipment as needed.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education/Certifications**:
Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two (2) years.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**:
A minimum of three years of prior related experience including administrative, senior administrative, secretarial, and general accounting experience.
Experience dealing with office equipment and tools.

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:
Must have strong time management ability
Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task is essential
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Easy Worship or the ability to learn quickly is essential
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and the public
Ability to follow and implement the Salvation Army Standards, Policies and Procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

**HOURS**: 2 days a week 10 hours a week, with flexibility to be increased to 25 hours during Christmas season (November to January) on a temp basis.
