OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director Professional Practice and the Director of Redevelopment, the Simulation Trainer will lead clinical teams in simulation training and education to prepare them for providing patient care in the new Thompson Patient Care centre atMichael Garron Hospital. The Simulation Trainer will ensure the effective and efficient operation of the simulation centre and provide needs based simulation education to interprofessional and profession based clinical teams in collaboration with the Redevelopment training team, Clinical Resource Leaders and Trainers from across the enterprise. The Simulation trainer will conduct simulation education in various clinical settings across the organization and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a monthly in situ mock calendar/rotation to ensure clinical teams have ongoing exposure to unit based simulation. The incumbent will oversee the operation of medium and low fidelity technology to ensure safe and effective use of simulation equipment.

EDUCATION
- Baccalaureate degree in a health discipline required
- Current registration with a Health Discipline Professional College/ Association in good standing required.
- Master's degree in adult education or leadership preferred
- Simulation Instructor Certification, or evidence of working toward certification required
- BLS Instructor certification required
- ACLS, PALS and NRT instructor certification an asset
- Certification in adult education an asset

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years clinical simulation and education experience in a hospital setting
- Sound knowledge of adult education theory
- Experience in simulation scenario development, video debriefing and the use of low, medium and high fidelity simulation equipment
- Excellent communication, coaching, facilitation and presentation skills combined with the ability to

teach in a classroom and clinical setting.
- Team player with the ability to develop and maintain partnerships with multiple, diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and troubleshoot with critical and creative thinking ability.
- Flexible, organized, adaptable and self-directed within scope of responsibility, has initiative and

independent judgement.
- Workingknowledge of clinical/administrative computer software, including MS office.
