**The Job - Painter**
Painters at On Side are important team members who, help restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Painters add colour to clients dreams with fresh, clean surfaces in the perfect shade.

**What you bring**
Painters bring a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

- Experience working in construction environments with tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- A safety mindset
- Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
- Ability to communicate in English

**What you’re responsible for**

A painter is skilled in the following ways:

- Estimate the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces, reviewing scopes, sketches and work orders
- Remove old coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding, wire brushing, or water and abrasive blasting
- Prepare surfaces for covering by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks, and sanding rough spots
- Match specified colours by using premixed paints, or mixing colour and thinning and drying additives

**Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory**:

- Experienced in drywall finishing, including mudding and taping
- WHMIS
- First Aid

**Of Note**

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call

- Weekends as needed

- Please list your in-home carpentry/home renovation skills that you would be willing to help the team with (anything from interior rough/trim carpentry to door hanging or installing interior millwork). This is not a requirement, just a bonus
- Cross training is required to help in Emergency On-Call. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles?
- Tell us about your experience with drywall hanging, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing. This is a bonus, not a requirement.
