New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.
**Position Summary**:
The Bed Flow/Support Services Supervisor, reporting to the Manager of Bed Management and liaising with the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for providing off hours support (evenings, weekends) in the absence of Management and Administrative teams. This role is accountable for the redirection of health human resources, patient flow decisions, utilization issues, interpretation of relevant policies and protocols related to occupancy, staffing levels, and bed flow. The Bed Flow/Support Services Supervisor is also responsible for providing off hours direction for housekeeping and linen services staff. This position will liaison with departmental (clinical and corporate) and service leads as needed.
**Position Requirements**:
- Graduate of an undergraduate degree program, preferably in a health related field or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years working in an acute care hospital
- Proven significant hospital experience with a varied healthcare background
- Proven recent supervisory/leadership, conflict resolution, critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Knowledge in resource allocation, funding implications, organizational goals and priority setting
- Holds current Dangerous Goods DGT certification.
- Excellent knowledge of chemical disinfection and related best practices from industry leaders (such as CAEM, PIDAC, CDC, ORNAC).
- Strong computer knowledge - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.
- Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.
**Preferred Requirements**:
- Recent supervisor experience in a bed flow and/or housekeeping field.
- Member of the Ontario HealthCare Housekeepers Association.
- Certified member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
