**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- CPA or bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Commerce designation.
- Minimum 3-5 years in a senior finance or accounting role
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficient using Yardi or other accounting software systems.
- Experience working in the non-profit organization and/or reporting to the Provincial Government would be considered an asset.
- Mandatory successful criminal record check
- Appropriate equivalencies may be considered.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Performing a variety of financial analysis to determine the present and forecasted financial health of the organization.
- Collaborate with management on the development and execution of funding strategies by identifying, investigating, and analyzing potential operational improvements.
- Working with the Executive Director, responsible for the development of risk management activities, development, and presentation of business cases for investment portfolios.
- Accountable for the preparation, distribution, and management of BCL’s annual budget process
- Manage the preparation and publication of departmental and organizational financial documents for the required parties.
- Responsible for examining financial documents and practices to verify accuracy and adherence to financial regulations and acceptable financial principles.
- Ensure financial reports are developed, prepared, and presented in the required format as defined by the various stakeholders including operations, Board of Directors, City of Red Deer, Government of Alberta, AB Seniors, AHS and other stakeholders as required.
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and balance sheets are reconciled, all month end tasks including the journal entries are reviewed and posted, the accounts payable and receivables are processed and completed, and all year end requirements have been executed.
- Accountable for the development, enforcement and maintenance of financial policies and internal controls
- Collaboratively working with external auditors by scheduling, preparing the documentation and implementing recommended changes as required
- Responsible for the day-to-day financial processes including cheque runs, rental refunds, contracts, and insurance files.
- Providing leadership to department personnel through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication.
- Accountable for ensuring the organization is compliant with all laws, regulations, and standards as it relates to finance and accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Responsible for the analysis of financial performance against key business metrics and document financial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budgets.
- Supporting the Office Manager with the development and maintenance of the financial management system, Yardi, developing processes, policies and procedures and training
- Responsible for all IT requirements for the organization both hardware & software

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $31,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
