This includes partnering with our internal business partners to understand and address their challenges and opportunities; designing optimal system and process experiences for, and with, our stakeholders; and providing the support required for our Institute to adapt to change. Our ultimate goal is to improve the teaching and learning outcomes for our 50,000+ students, as well as the experiences of our faculty and staff.- It’s a dynamic time at BCIT as we embark on numerous projects and programs which will enhance the digital experience for students, faculty, and staff. We are seeking a full-time Business Analyst (BA) to work with stakeholders across the Institute to understand the current state of their processes, facilitate the design of a future state, and ensure solutions meet business needs. The BA will work closely with our partners in HR, Finance, Schools, and Student Services. Assignments may range from ERP projects (HR, Finance, Student) to implementation of COTS and cloud solutions for our clients.**Duties & Responsibilities**

  • Performs needs assessments with key project and program stakeholders.
  • Documents business requirements in various forms in a hybrid environment such as business requirements document (BRD), user stories, use cases, user scenarios, service design blueprints, business process maps, functional and technical specifications, etc. Ensures documents are catered to the audience and maintained regularly throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conducts business process reviews, stakeholder analysis, and systems impact assessments to identify all activities required to support the change.
  • Conducts gap analysis between business rules, business requirements, legislative/compliance requirements and desired to-be state.
  • Researches solution options as required.
  • Contributes to business cases, conceptual papers, solution / decision recommendation documents, and analysis results for project sponsor level decision making.
  • Collaborates with project or program team(s) on solution design, ensuring needs and business goals of stakeholders are clear to the teams and met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Plans production readiness activities with stakeholders, project/program managers, and change management team
  • Plans and coordinates user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Contributes to requirements on RFPs.
  • Works with business analysts on other projects to identify critical interdependencies.

**Minimum Qualifications**

  • Institute of Technology Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business; and a minimum of six years of current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT, including four of the last six years in a similar position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Must have demonstrated advanced and current IT knowledge.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
  • Proven project management skills
  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including leadership and specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)
  • High level of professionalism and ethics

**Desired Qualifications**

  • Certified IIBA or PMI Business Analyst (ECBA, CCBA, CBAP or CBATL) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a medium to large-sized IT department/organization working with multiple teams of technical staff.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment is an asset.
  • Applied knowledge of change management methodology (e.g. Prosci) is an asset
  • Experience in Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is an asset.
  • Able to work independently in producing project artifacts.
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution or public sector environment an asset
  • Lean, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) an asset
  • Ellucian Banner or other ERP experience an asset.
