Come and be a part of this success- About Potash- The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles. Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. To find out more about Potash and the Jansen project, click here.- Purpose- The Specialist Safety meaningfully contributes to the strategic management of safety related issues, provisions and initiatives across the organization.- Work Location- This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The associated work schedule will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance (< 90km) of the Jansen site. BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.- About the Role- In this role, you will: - Manage, improve, and provide expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organizational safety outcomes and performance- - Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems- - Source information, plan, and conduct analysis to support evidence-based recommendations to Safety Lead, customers, and other interested parties- - Ensure continued interactions and compliance with key interested parties, regulatory authorities, BHP & IPT (Integrated Project Team), methods and processes- - Participate in and maintain the assurance of contractors / workforce complianceAssist with providing advice, guidance, and support to the organization with regards to health and safety legislation, issues and compliance- - Understand, advocate, and actively participate in the Field Leadership Program, Inspections, Incident Reporting and Investigation, and Management of the HSS strategy- - Create an inclusive culture by sustaining psychological safety and removing both conscious and unconscious bias from our interactions with others- - Provide expertise on the Fatality Elimination Program and safety risk management practices to improve organizational safety outcomes and performance- - Quality verification on Safety core processes (FLP, FLRA, CRAW, WPRA, Permit to Work, Pre-Qualification, etc.)- - Engage in safety and risk prioritization issues (i.e., decision to stop or change work due to safety concerns) and exercise the ability and willingness to intervene to ensure risk is assessed and work is conducted safely- About You- - Demonstrated industrial construction experience in a safety role- - Proven safety experience in the potash industry (surface or underground) is an asset- - OHS or NCSO designation, or equivalent is required- - CRSP, CSP, or equivalent is recommended- - Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholdersHigh degree of emotional intelligence- - Self-starter that exhibits a high level of initiative and resourcefulness- - Valid Canadian Driver’s Licence- - Familiarity with the Human Operational Performance (HOP) operating philosophy- Application Closing Date- This posting will be active until 11:59pm CST on November 7, 2024.- About our Process- At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
