External - Actuarial Analyst I - Summer Relief

**Job Summary**:
One Summer Relief Position
April 28, 2025 and end on August 29, 2025.
The Actuarial Analyst I supports the Actuarial Services team for the valuation of benefit liabilities, calculation of employer assessment rates, risk analysis, financial forecasting and providing actuarial support for other areas of the organization.
**Job Duties**:
Assists with the collection and preparation of data to support all actuarial functions including the reconciliation and validation of data, comparison of actual experience to expected/prior experience and follow up on any anomalies found.
Supports the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of actuarial models, including the actuarial valuation of liabilities, rate setting, financial forecasting and experience studies.
Develops and maintains documentation of actuarial functions, models and data preparation.
Executes routine actuarial modelling procedures, including month end liability models and prepares reports and analysis of the results.
Prepares liability and data summaries and reports used for funding and financial statement purposes.
Provides analysis used in research, planning, as well as internal and external requests.
Pursues professional and personal development through continuing education and training, literature reviews, workshops, seminars, etc.
Participates in department-wide and other major projects as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
Actively enrolled in post secondary education in actuarial science, mathematics or related quantitative discipline and returning to post secondary education in the fall.
Plans to pursue or actively pursuing Associateship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) and/or Associateship of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
Ability to use a personal computer in a Windows environment.
Well-developed skills in Microsoft software (Word, Excel & Access).
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Ability to manipulate, modify, extract and analyze data
Well-developed problem solving skills
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team environment
Strong computer programming skills in VBA and/or SQL would be an asset
Actuarial work experience acquired through a co-op program or summer employment would be an asset
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required

**Additional Information**:
**Salary**: $56,798
This summer student position is only open to students who will be returning to post-secondary education in the fall. Any applicant who does not meet this criteria will not be considered.
Please note that this position will begin on April 28, 2025 and end on August 29, 2025.
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.
You may be asked to demonstrate your ability through competency-based interviewing and/or testing.
