The Administrative Assistant provides seamless support to our healthcare team and the patients attending the Prenatal

Well Baby program. The Administrative Assistant works as part of a comprehensive team to provide excellent care to

patients.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Provide administrative support to all interdisciplinary health care professionals associated with the Prenatal Well

Baby program
- Greet and direct patients in an efficient and professional manner
- Answer telephones and respond to patient inquiries
- Manage incoming and outgoing referrals, including triaging referrals, scheduling appointments, communicating

appointment details to patients
- Assist with the overall coordination of care for clinic patients
- Organize and manage patients’ charts and lab reports
- Prepare medical kits as requested by physicians, nurses and nurse practitioners
- Computerized OHIP billing
- Perform regular administrative duties including filing, faxing, and word processing

**Education, Qualifications and Skills**
- Certificate or diploma in Office Administration or Medical Secretary
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position within a healthcare related environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work well in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, communications and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
- Strong knowledge of electronic medical records systems (Accuro preferred)
- Ability to maintain information in confidence

will comply with the Ontario Human Rights Code with respect to any exemption requests

**Additional Job Requirements**
- Must have a reliable vehicle with current insurance and ability to travel within the community as needed
- Must adhere to all BCFHT Policies and Procedures, including Occupational Health & Safety, WHMIS
