**Intergovernmental Relations Project Archivist**

**Location**: 11821 123 Street NW, Edmonton, AB

**Position Status**:Full-time (40 hours/week), 1 Year Employment Contract

**Key Responsibilities**
- Evaluate and contextualize oral histories and physical materials to support research, knowledge-building, and preservation efforts related to various IGR projects.
- Support the organization, preservation, and compartmentalization of various source materials, including converting content into accessible formats.
- Assist with the creation of charts, surveys, and other data collection tools to accurately present findings.
- Evaluate the credibility, relevance, and reliability of records and data collected through program related research.
- Assist with the maintenance and management of archival systems used for storing and preserving digital and electronic files.
- Assist colleagues in locating, interpreting, and articulating record findings.
- Collaborate closely with internal Otipemisiwak Métis Government departments and affiliates, ensuring seamless execution of interdepartmental projects and shared objectives.
- Discuss findings with Métis Citizens in a professional, ethical, and confidential manner without compromising data security.
- Support potential projects by assisting Métis community members in sharing their stories and contributing to initiatives that promote healing and recognition of lived experiences.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

- Ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
- Highly detail-oriented, with strong data entry and information management skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly in both written and verbal formats.
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, adapt to unforeseen challenges, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Self-motivated and accountable, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and following established policies and procedures within the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- Ability to build collaborative, positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including clients, community members, senior leadership, and Otipemisiwak Métis Government employees.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Culturally sensitive, compassionate, and trustworthy.
- Awareness of the history and social impact of residential schools on Indigenous populations.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, ethical standards, and best practices related to survivor rights, trauma-informed care, cultural safety, and the respectful collection and sharing of sensitive historical and personal information.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture, people, and values is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Museum Studies, or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in an archival or a library-based position is an asset
- Experience working in an Indigenous and/or non-profit setting is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- The position will be based in Edmonton, AB.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, as well as occasional evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel within Alberta and outside of the province with notice.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
