**Child and Youth Care Worker**

**Caregivers Support Program**

**Regular Part Time** | **Grid 13 ($30.86 - $32.17/hour)** | **Reporting to: Team Lead Family Programs, Chantelle Fontaine**

**Opportunity**
- Pacific Community Resources Society requires a Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW) for the Caregivers Support Program. The CYCW will demonstrate a sound knowledge of child development, behaviors related to attachment ruptures and the outcomes of developmental trauma on children and youth. The Caregivers Support program is in partnership with PCRS and the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD). The successful applicant will possess a valid class 5 driver's license and be confident providing one to one support to youth in care or children living with extended family members. This position requires a class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle. Additionally, a sound understanding of Family Systems, children’s ‘rights and an ability to collaborate with other professionals in the community.- As part of the Family Support programs, the applicant will have strong skills in listening and communicating, recreational program planning and an ease at relationship building**Responsibilities**

- Managing emergency situations safely and in accordance with agency policy.
- Maintaining good safety practices and a preventative approach.
- Understanding the stresses of the job and taking steps to prevent personal burn-out.
- Is comfortable providing individual supervision and behavioral support when required.

**Participates in Case Management**:

- Contributing to developing supportive approaches and wellbeing
- Participating in daily documentation as required by agency protocols.
- Maintaining contact with families and/or caregivers where appropriate.
- Maintaining contact with Social Workers or other professionals, as necessary.

**Qualifications**
- B.A. in a related field plus one-year related experience OR a Child and Youth Care Diploma plus three years’ experience working with multi-barriered or vulnerable youth.
- Experience and understanding of working with FASD.

**Additional Assets**
- Criminal Records Check including the vulnerable sector.
- Valid Level 1 First Aid Certificate will be an asset.
- Class 5 Driver's License or willing to obtain Class 5
- Proven ability to work in an anti-oppression, anti-racist framework.
- Proven ability to facilitate workshops.
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues and partners.
- Proven ability to work within a high stress environment.
- Proven skill in conflict resolution, mediation, and engagement of youth
- Proven experience working with Indigenous, LGBTQ2SIA+, BIPOC populations of youth.
- Suicide Prevention Training
- Trauma Informed/Resilience Training
- Substance use, mental health Training
- ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) training
