**SPUD.ca **is looking for a **Procurement Specialist **to join our growing team in either British Columbia or Alberta

The **Procurement Specialist** will be responsible for supporting and overseeing day-to-day activities pertaining to the procurement and sale of grocery products. This will be a remote-first hybrid position, with some in-person activities in one (or more) of our warehouse facilities located in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

SPUD.ca is an online grocery delivery business in Western Canada. We are a passionate team who believe that food touches every aspect of our lives, so we are advocates for sustainable farming practices, sourcing locally, treating animals humanely, and reducing food waste. As a Certified B Corporation since 2013, we are committed to socially responsible business practices.

**Responsibilities**:

- Projecting and placing accurate purchase orders.
- Controlling product availability to customers on spud.ca based on vendor availability, in-stock volumes, and expected deliveries.
- Ongoing communication with warehouse staff regarding inbound/outbound shipments.
- Working closely with vendors to obtain accurate product and delivery ETAs.
- Setting projections and ensuring stock availability for promotions.
- Bridge-buying or opting into case-stacks when appropriate to maximize margin.
- Flagging backstock and discontinuation suggestions to the Merchandising team to help optimize assortment, limit food waste, and reduce days on hand.
- Transferring inventory between warehouses as needed.
- Using Jira to track the onboarding of new products.
- Using Power Bi Reports to offer insight into and improve key performance indicators (Fill Rate, Days on Hand, and Shrink)
- Problem solving in unexpected situations.
- Additional duties as required.
- Passion and knowledge for food, particularly local and organic.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in purchasing, grocery and/or inventory management.
- Proven ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner externally (with our vendors) and internally (cross-functionally with our team).
- Bachelor's degree and/or high school diploma + equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (ability to perform VLOOKUP, IF, INDEX, MATCH, and ability to manipulate pivot tables)
- Strong communication skills including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP software is preferred.
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills.
- Extreme attention to every minor detail is critical.
