**As the**_Desktop Support Specialist_**_, _**you will**:

- Assist in installing, moving, adding, changing (IMAC) and administering departmental desktops and similar computing devices (such as workstations, laptops, netbooks, tablets, etc.) and the local area network environment in order to provide users with computer resources.
- Analyze and resolve operational problems with desktops and similar computing devices and printers.
- Provide technical consultation on desktop and similar computing devices’ hardware and software; research technical requirements and recommend solutions; document the technical and operational environment as well as processes and procedures (Operational References).
- Assist the Desktop and Mobility Services Coordinator in the procurement and disposal role for departmental and Citywide goods and services.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the classification as required.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Degree or diploma in a technology related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- MCDST, MCTS, or MCITP Certification based on current Windows platform an asset.
- Minimum three years technical and technical support experience or equivalent co-op experience.
- Extensive computer related experience in configuring hardware and software on a personal computer within a business or corporate networked environment and experience in implementation and operation of local area network systems.
- Experience in the configuration and operation of PC hardware and software including installation of network cards, memory, hard disks and other peripherals and familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and other software as required by the department.
- Experience with mass computer equipment deployments.
- Knowledge of current industry hardware and software.
- Ability to investigate, analyze, evaluate and resolve network and pc-related problems.
- Interpersonal skills and an ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of personnel within the civic service as well as outside contacts.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to organize, prioritize multiple demands, exercise sound judgment, work under stressful conditions and meet tight time deadlines.

- Excellent written communication skills.
