**Urban Garden **is an established Design, Build, Planting and Maintenance company specializing in condominiums, commercial properties, parks and streetscapes in the central and downtown Toronto area.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals with a passion for landscaping to join our collaborative and positive team.

**Details on the opportunity**:
The Assistant Manager is a full-time position, responsible for ensuring that planting, landscaping, and maintenance projects are completed and performed to the company's standards. You will be collaborating with the Decorative planting/Maintenance manager on various projects. You are responsible for the client consultation, estimation, organization and completion of Urban Garden’s contracts and projects. This position requires a successful balance of both office time/duties and on-site field work and supervision.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Management of Contracts and Operations: working with Planting and Maintenance Manager, with a focus on overseeing the execution of UG Planting and Maintenance contracts. Both on-site and office/shop time will be required.
- Management of multiple 4-Season Decorative Planting contracts and design.
- Landscape Contract Scheduling: Organize and carry out the crew schedules as outlined by the Manager.
- Oversee specific Planting and Maintenance duties according to appropriate time of season: Seasonal Planting Program, Spring Turf Program, Mulch Applications, Fall Turf Program etc
- Sourcing and Ordering Plant Material and Landscape Material
- Assist with site reports, regular site inspections, quality control and training on maintenance and planting sites
- Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization on site and in assigned trucks, equipment, job sites and shop/yard areas. Perform on-site training as required. Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members. Work closely with Shop Manager.
- Meet with client/property manager on site as required, update property contacts on any issues or significant tasks.
- Report and delegate any on-site requests from the client to the Manager

**Administration**
- Create contract and proposals. Assist Manager by performing initial site visit and developing basic estimates for the scope of work. The use of our estimating software is required.
- Create and renew all landscape planting and maintenance contracts for the new season.
- Hire, discipline, and conduct reviews of crew/staff in your division.
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE and H&S standards
- Assist in various administrative tasks: Yearly Budget Creation, Payroll Supervision as per division, Manager Meetings, Staff Socials etc.

**Position Requirements - please get in touch with us if you have**:

- Extensive knowledge is horticulture, plant material, panting design, and landscape maintenance practices.
- Management experience: Including overseeing staff, and customer clients.
- Experience in overseeing multiple yearly landscape contracts
- Highly organized and efficient.
- Excellent Time Management: self motivated, punctual, with a positive work ethic
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Landscape Software.
- Adaptability to adapt and thrive in busy times of season.
- G Drivers License: comfortable using larger vehicles drive and navigate throughout the downtown core.

This is a full-time position that entails (approximately) 45-50 hours per week.
