Agassiz, Canada Seabird Island Band Full time

The Seabird Island Band is a multi-faceted First Nations Band that includes government, business, service, and nonprofit services. We work as an integrated team to improve the health, education, and economic opportunities for First Nations people to create thriving First Nations families and communities.

**Position Summary**:

- Seabird Island Band is committed to the health and safety of its employee's and community members. SIB has implemented measures to protect and prevent the spread of COVID-19. SIB is mandated under provincial health care standards that all employees provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19 unless otherwise deemed exempt under the Human Rights Code_
- Eligible Participants:_
- Must be Aboriginal status/non-status, on/off reserve who resides within the SASET catchment area
- Must be 18 years of age or older (not currently in school)
- Long term unemployed (3 months or more)
- No longer required by law to attend school
- Participant may have marketable skills but lack work experience in area in which the work experience and/or training will occur
- Not be receiving other Service Canada supports funding
- All Service Canada Personal Information Forms (PIFS) and Client Consent Forms (CC’s) must be submitted prior to commencement of program

**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to type over an average of 30 Word Per Minute
- Experience working with and securing private and/or highly confidential information
- Ability to follow a project plan and accomplish tasks in order to complete deliverables on time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedures
- Reliable transportation to the primary workplace
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset
- Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset
- Previous experience with Federal or Provincial Safety legislation and/or safety experience is considered an asset

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Scan, enter, track, and send reminders regarding specific staff training and action items
- Assist with Safe Job Procedures and Safe Work Practice documentation
- Receive, scan, enter, and process incident reports & safety documentation as per Seabird Island policy and procedures
- Support the Seabird Island Joint health and safety committee by taking meeting minutes
- Occupational Health and Safety administration as assigned by HR manager and Safety Officer
- Conduct all responsibilities with respect and adherence to privacy and confidentiality policies
- Positive attitude and an ability to work well with a team
