Shop Foreman/woman

We have an opening for a **Shop Foreman/woman** to join our team

This position is responsible for the supervision of all shop health & safety and the fabrication and quality control of all projects, including, but not limited to, trade show booths, experiential marketing activations, custom vehicles, retail environments, museum exhibits, other visitor attractions, and custom architectural millwork.

8+ years of experience working in and supervising a custom millwork shop and a passion for custom fabrication, branded environments, and visitor attractions are necessary.

As Shop Foreman/woman, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
**Responsibilities**:
Health & Safety
- Lead by example in terms of operational health and safety policies and procedures and ensure all shop staff are abiding by all health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Monitor the operation of machinery, equipment, and tools for safety and best practices.
- Train new staff on the proper use of equipment and safety protocols.
- Supervise all work undertaken in the shop and ensure safety policies and procedures and being adhered to by all staff and outside contractors.

Production
- Assist the Production Manager in providing the Project Development and Visitor Attractions teams with build methodology suggestions and shop labour hours as requested.
- Review all project submittal/approval drawings and specifications to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project scope.
- Review Work Orders and distribute to shop personnel based on skill, experience, and workload.
- Ensure shop personnel are aware of and adhere to the hours allotted for specific tasks on each project to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Assist fabricators in finding solutions to project challenges and issues.
- Inspect all fabricated work produced internally or by external partners/vendors to ensure accuracy, functionality, and quality.
- Manage inventories of all shop stock materials, hardware, consumables, and supplies, and place re-stock orders in a timely manner.
- Order all project-related materials, hardware, consumables, and supplies in a timely manner to ensure no project delays.
- Assist the Production Manager in developing and implementing new shop standards and procedures.
- Assist the Production Manager in evaluating staff performance, conduct, and attendance.
- Assist the Production Manager with all timesheets, accident reports, and other necessary paperwork.
- Ensure the shop is cleaned regularly and that shop waste is disposed of carefully.
- Other tasks as required.

**Qualifications**:

- A Red Seal Journeyman
- Proven experience managing a custom fabrication shop, including CNC, woodshop, metal shop, spray finishing, and prop building.
- Proven experience working with many materials, including wood products, typical metals, rigid foams, plastics, latex and lacquer paints, stains and clear coats. Experience with hard shell coatings like epoxies and resins and fibreglass is considered an asset.
- Proven experience working on various custom projects, such as trade show booths, museum, zoo & aquarium exhibits, experiential marketing activations, custom branded vehicles, visitor centres, visitor attractions, and custom architectural millwork projects.
- Ability to read architectural, fabrication, and technical drawings

**About You**:

- Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience.
- A passion for some of the following: Trade Shows/ Museum Exhibits/ Branded Experiences/Custom Fabrication/Prop or Set Building.
- Confident in your detailing/engineering and fabrication knowledge.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- A personality to inspire fabricators while still being humble enough to accept, analyze, and grow based on critical feedback.
- Self-motivated, a natural problem solver and detail-minded with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Driven by curiosity and passion for creativity.
- Tenacious in nature; creates opportunities to achieve excellence.
- Excited to build something new with a thirst to work smarter, not harder.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
