**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Chief Enterprise Architect, the AVP Applications Architecture will proactively guide technology transformation and optimization initiatives by aligning enterprise architecture principles and desired outcomes with engineering. Success in this role requires a strong partnership with senior technology leaders across the organization.

This role focuses on providing thought leadership on Applications Architecture. It is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, enabling the adoption of, and governing the use of Applications Architecture patterns across the Digital Technology organization. The role will be responsible for thought leadership for the translation of non-functional requirements into engineering deliverables.

The AVP Enterprise Architecture responds to disruptive forces by creating principles, guidelines, patterns, and architecture decisions to speed up the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help technology teams drive targeted outcomes.

**What you will do**
- Provide thought leadership on Applications Architecture to the technology organization
- Develop and maintain an Applications Architecture patterns catalogue in collaboration with architects, engineers, and cloud vendors
- Develop reference architectures to realize patterns and bring best practices to life
- Conduct proofs-of-technology to test the viability of critical solution approaches to support the decision making process
- Own standards for non-functional requirements in the EA domain
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies
- Participate on the Architecture Review Council and raise items as required to collaborate on architecturally significant decisions
- Lead a team of Applications Architects
- Lead all employee lifecycle events for all direct reports, including recruitment activities, selection, onboarding, and performance and professional management

**What you will bring**
- Masters’ degree in Computer Science
- At least 5 years of architecture experience in financial services, which includes experience in Solutions Architecture and Applications Architecture roles
- Proven track record conceptualizing and building a patterns catalogue
- Proven track record designing reference architectures
- Proven track record conducting proofs-of-technology using cloud-based technology (AWS or Azure)
- Values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints to utilize an iterative and agile approach
- Self-starter with the ability to comfortably operate in ambiguity
- Proven experience managing a team’s personal and professional development
- Architectural experience using modelling languages and frameworks
