**Actuarial Analyst (Co-op Student) Actuarial Services**
**(8-month work term - Spring 2025)**
The Ontario Pension Board (OPB) administers the Public Service Pension Plan (the PSPP), a major defined benefit pension plan sponsored by the Government of Ontario. As a member of the Actuarial Services team at Ontario Pension Board (OPB), the Actuarial Analyst (Student) will contribute to the in-house actuary services and assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP). In this role, you’ll support the pension administration of defined benefit calculations, receiving training and guidance on the overall structure and regulatory framework of Defined Benefit pension plans.
Taking part in strategic initiatives and providing input on innovative approaches, you will build collaborative relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. Please note: this position is an 8-month work term.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist with coordinating and preparing data management, metrics, ad-hoc reporting, and performing validation of calculations.
- Support the improvement of existing actuarial tools, software and processes, providing input on innovative approaches and enhancements.
- Assist various teams to resolve complex pension related issues.
- Support strategic initiatives and special projects through actuarial and data analysis.
- Provide actuarial support around plan statistics, potential pension plan mergers and new employer onboardings.
**Key Qualifications**:
- Currently enrolled in an Actuarial Science or related program (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance) requiring completion of a work placement/ co-op work term, or a recent graduate (2025).
- Previous co-op work experience or knowledge of defined benefit pension plans or pension plan administration is considered an asset.
- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Outlook. Proficiency with data visualization software (PowerBI) is preferred.
- Strong relationship building skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and support internal stakeholder teams.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and manage priorities, adapting to competing objectives in a time-sensitive manner.
- Well-developed project and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and critical review/thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
