SUMMARY

Reporting to the Immigration Department Director, the incumbent is responsible for implementing activities arising from the operational plan of The City of Dieppe's Immigration Strategy. This person is also responsible for facilitating and coordinating all aspects of City of Dieppe activities and events that enhance the prosperity and quality of life of newcomers to the community.

In addition, he or she is required to collaborate and partner with established service providers in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to implement immigration solutions to local labour needs.

Key responsibilities include working with partners and agencies involved in the immigration sector, implementing initiatives stemming from The City of Dieppe's Immigration Strategy, providing support to newcomers to the city, and supporting the Immigration Department team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnerships
- Liaise and work closely with associations and organizations in the areas of immigration, cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Liaise and work closely with Expansion Dieppe.
- Liaise and work closely with the various relevant municipal departments within the City of Dieppe.
- Represent the municipality in regional initiatives in the areas of immigration, cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Organize, plan and facilitate meetings and serve on relevant committees, as needed.
- Support and collaborate with local and regional groups in the implementation of special projects/initiatives and community and social activities related to the objectives of The City of Dieppe's Immigration Strategy.

Immigration Department initiatives (cultural diversity and inclusion)
- Develop, plan and implement initiatives and projects that promote living together and the reception and harmonious integration of community members.
- Develop a thematic calendar and an annual program based on the budget provided.
- Support, work closely with and advise City of Dieppe teams in the development and implementation of activities that promote cultural diversity and inclusion or in relation to The City of Dieppe's Immigration Strategy.
- Develop, plan and implement cultural diversity and inclusion awareness activities for staff and relevant community members.
- Provide supervision of interns and student positions.

Support for newcomers
- Act as a link between the City of Dieppe and the newcomer community.
- Organize and facilitate high-quality exploratory tours for prospective residents and newcomers to the city of Dieppe.
- Connect newcomers with appropriate agencies for settlement services.
- Assist newcomers in navigating City services.
- Promote the City of Dieppe in the context of missions and recruitment fairs targeted by The City of Dieppe's Immigration Strategy.

Administration
- Prepare and present reports, records and recommendations to management.
- Collect, collate and analyze information from the field to identify integration/inclusion-related progress and challenges within the City of Dieppe.
- Facilitate the sharing of inspiring practices to ensure the ongoing transfer of knowledge and experience.
- Perform any other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education
- Post-secondary degree in arts, business administration, public administration, social studies, community and cultural development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of college education and experience.

Driver's license
- Class 5 driver's licence or the ability to obtain one.

Experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of immigration (reception and settlement, immigration process, recruitment, employment support), community development, cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Extensive experience organizing events, making public presentations for various groups and working with community groups.
- Extensive experience in providing services to newcomers.

Knowledge
- High degree of fluency in spoken and written French and English.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Knowledge of digital communication tools.
- Extensive knowledge of the Web and social media.
- Knowledge of multicultural and ethnocultural organizations, groups and associations in the region.
- Knowledge of the immigration ecosystem and networks.

Skills and requirements
- Strong writing skills and solid grasp of French and English grammar.
- Strong customer-service focus and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
