- **Role Overview**_

Reporting to Operations Supervisor - Work Centres, the Digital Printer Operator will be responsible for operating the digital printer to produce high-quality print materials while ensuring adherence to project specifications and colour consistency. Additionally, they will perform routine printer maintenance to uphold operational efficiency and troubleshoot minor issues as they arise.

In this hourly role, you can expect to work up to 40 - 44 hours per week, with additional overtime and weekends as needed based on capacity. A typical shift will be 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, at our plant located at 150 Dynamic Dr, Scarborough, ON, M1V 5A5.
- **Highlights of What You Will Do **_

**Job Preparation**:

- Review the production schedule and coordinate with The Planning & Scheduling Operations Supervisor, to prepare materials for upcoming jobs
- Read and understand work orders and scheduling lists
- Work closely with Designers and Production Coordinators to understand job specifics
- Fill ink fountains of the press; mix ink and maintain ink at acceptable levels.
- Preflight customer files and send out sample proofs for production sign off
- Make suggestions on paper, binding productivity, and colour workflow options
- Generate dockets and impose files for digital, offset, and large format printing

**Printer Operation**:

- Read and understand project print specifications, interpret layouts, ensure correct material is issued, and determine ink usage
- Maintain press uptime and ensure excellent print quality and operational efficiency
- Achieve and monitor colour consistency throughout production.
- Examine printed products for ink density, position on stock, and registration; adjust throughout production to maintain guide, registration, and colour density
- Maintain overall production and quality of jobs by following SOPs and adjust for good image quality

**Post-Print and Finishing**:

- Print digital and large format orders, including colour correction.
- Order necessary supplies and maintain a clean work area
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure the final product meets quality standards
- Gather, organize, and wrap completed work for delivery to customers or the next department
- Use ERP system to WIP and maintain inventory

**Printer Maintenance**:

- Perform maintenance on schedule with the assistance of the Maintenance Technician
- Troubleshoot and perform minor adjustments and repairs

**Other**:

- Maintain quality and safety standards at the equipment and around the operating area
- Troubleshoot problems that occur during job submission or the printing process
- Inspect finished work for quality, accuracy, count, and sizes.
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Be willing to work overtime when necessary
- Perform trims, die-cuts, folds, laminations, pad, drill, collate, stitch, tape and kit during slow periods

- **What You’ll Need to be Successful...**_
- Previous operated a digital printers and perform print-related tasks
- Working knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment
- Postgraduate in Print, Packaging, Industrial Design or Graphic Communication is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cut quality standards
- Ability to troubleshoot table issues and performing minor repairs
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to multitask well, remain organized, and handle many projects at one time
- Mechanically inclined and production oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization
- Ability to react quickly and make continuous adjustments to provide top quality products
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs safely
