**About Rugby NS**: As the Provincial Sport Organization for Rugby, Rugby NS is dedicated to the
advancement, encouragement, promotion, administration, development and coordination of
the sport of rugby.
**Position**:The Provincial Performance Coach will be leading Rugby Nova Scotia's high
- performance and excellence programs to ensure identified players are supported to continue to
develop with the goal to achieve national selection. They will support the Nova Scotia Pathway
Initiative (NSPPI) and help athletes develop appropriately through the Long-Term Development
Plan.
**Reports To**:Executive Director
**Location**:Halifax, Nova Scotia
**Hours**: 35 hours per week, with the possibility of working evenings and weekends as required.
**About the Role**:The Provincial Performance Coach will be responsible for the following:
- Lead all High-Performance Rugby Programs (Provincial teams, Keltics Academy, Ignite,
NexGen Athletes) within Nova Scotia
- Act as Director for Provincial Programs (responsible for selecting coaching staff from the
U15 to Senior Level)
- Plan, facilitate and evaluate the delivery of the Keltics Academy Program and the Ignite
Program; acting as the lead for these initiatives.
- Ensure players are developing appropriately through the Long-Term Development (LTD)
Plan, and are being identified for Rugby Canada national programs.
- Leading provincial and Atlantic talent identification camps semi-annually to allow for
national identification of Nova Scotia athletes.
- In conjunction with the Technical Director, establish Rugby Nova Scotia’s pathway for
players, coaches and match officials.
- Coordinate with CSI Atlantic sport science staff, National Team staff, Rugby Canada,
coaches, other experts and PSO’s to deliver modern and relevant programs within the
Rugby NS high performance program structure.
- Identification and development of high-performance rugby coaches in Nova Scotia.
The Provincial Performance Coach will assist Rugby NS in the following:
- Support Technical Director as required
- Support Sport Development Tool Report
- Assist with special events (Test Matches, Tournaments, etc.) as required
- Participate in National and Inter-Provincial committees as required
- Assist the Technical Director in building awareness for programs, pathways, and
opportunities that Rugby NS has.
- Planning, budgeting and reporting on all high performance programs and initiatives.
**Qualifications**
- NCCP Comp. Dev/World Rugby Level 3 or actively working to complete
- Extensive coaching experience at a high level (Provincial/National)
- World Rugby Educator - Coach or Match Official
- Criminal Background Check & Child Abuse Registry
- NCCP Safe Sport Trained and understanding of the Universal Code of Conduct for
Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS)
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
**Competencies**
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with stakeholders and volunteers
- Strong Communication Skills
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Proven ability to address and manage conflict.
- Strong technical aptitude and experience working with Google Suite (e.g., Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
