**About the position**:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and in conjunction with the program team, the Family & Youth Mentor is responsible for providing case management to children/youth or families on an individual basis. This position is responsible for overall case management, collaboration with community partners and support to create or strengthen relationships with existing natural support networks. The caseload of this position may consist of families, children/youth or a combination based on programming needs.
**This is a term position, ending July 31, 2026.**
**Here is how you will contribute as a Family and Youth Mentor**:
- Work with families and youth to develop goals that are reflective of their specific needs and implement intervention strategies to assists them in achieving the goals. Track and report on progress and outcomes.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments, provide education, intervention, and support to families and youth.
- Carry a full caseload and ensure all case notes and reporting are accurate and timelines are met.
- Demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of intervention strategies and skill building resources.
- Deliver services using a strengths-based, person-centered approach to assist families and youth.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule. Typical schedule is Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm but will vary for evenings and possibly weekends based on the needs of the program and participants.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Degree/Diploma in human services or related field and a member in good standing with the applicable professional association. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Experience working with youth and families.
- Excellent communication, assessment, organizational and computer skills as well as a strong knowledge of community resources.
- Acute attention to accuracy and detail in writing case notes and reports.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to carry children in car seats.
- Clear Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector dated within the last 6 months.
- Clear Child Intervention Check dated within the past six months.
- Driver’s Abstract with no more than six (6) demerits, **valid Class 5 Driver’s License with three years of Canadian driving experience**, use of reliable vehicle and minimum $2M Third Party Liability insurance to carry passengers.
- Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate.
