City of Vancouver - Security Guard (Incumbent Staff)
**YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY**:

We are currently looking for experienced Security Guards to join our new **City of Vancouver (COV)** contract.
We have two positions available:
**Guard 1** (minimum 1-year security experience) **$20.52/hr**
**Guard 2** (minimum 2 years security experience) **$22.52/hr**
After a probation of 3 to 6 months, you will be eligible for a pay increase to approximately **$24/hr for Guard 1** and **$26/hr for Guard 2.**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Burrard and Heather Marina
An exciting security position watching and keeping the calm waters and the boats and the shores safe and secure.
Creekside and Mount Pleasant Community Centre
An exciting security position working closely with the public, ensuring the Community Centers that are used by families, children, and adults are safe places.
Works Yards (Evans/Kent/Manitoba)
A security position that works closely with members of the City of Vancouver Team ensures the vehicles, equipment, and supplies they keep secure.
Vancouver Police Training and Tactical Centre
If you want to pursue policing, this is an exciting security position supporting the Vancouver Police Department at their Training and Tactical Centre.
**YOU’RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU**:
- Have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Have strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Are comfortable interacting verbally with team members, client personnel, members of the public, and emergency services.
- Can write detailed incident reports which may be utilized in court if subpoenaed.
- Have a passion for being active, your patrols may be indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions, and can include stairwells, uneven surfaces, and parkades.
- Can physically stand and/or patrol for the majority of a shift (8-hours average).
- Are comfortable approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc.
- Possess basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols in a smart phone, and communicating via two-way radio.
- Are eligible to work in Canada
