Maintenance Associate

The Blossom Group provides a home for people with complex special needs. Through our therapeutic live-in programs, we support children, youth, and adults through a range of cognitive, social, and emotional issues, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, neurobiological and developmental disabilities, and those with coexisting mental health and behavioural issues. Working as part of a collaborative Maintenance team and reporting to the Director of Client Services, the **Maintenance Worker **supports our mission and vision to build a supportive and caring community by performing routine and preventative maintenance and repair procedures on facilities, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. **The base rate for this position is $23 per hour, plus an additional $3.00 per hour wage enhancement.**

**Core Responsibilities**
- Perform routine daily inspection and complete necessary reactive and preventative maintenance to facility exterior/interior, appliances, and equipment
- Assist and perform tasks of a general nature in connection with maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of the residence
- Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and construction work
- Perform general groundskeeping on a daily basis, inspect outside of residential areas, and ensure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition
- Custodial duties as required, both indoor and outdoor
- Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance schedules, job logs, and MSDS sheets
- Perform weekly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for everyone
- Use personal protective equipment and proper procedures when performing tasks or using equipment.
- When required, will provide oversight and direction to subcontractors for project work within capabilities
- Obtain quotes, estimates, and approval from Finance as needed
- Perform major repairs under the supervision of licensed workers
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required
- Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings
- Maintain knowledge of local requirements related to assigned duties
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Participate as a member in a team environment by promoting and maintaining professional conduct, resolving conflict, acknowledging individual differences, and supporting team members and clients
- Protect self and others by maintaining a safe environment via safety inspections, emergency procedures, crisis intervention techniques, and Safe Management
- Availability to work all shifts including weekends, weekdays, evenings, overnight and holidays (as needed)
- Drive company vehicle/tractor upon meeting requirements
- Participate in an on-call schedule rotation for evenings and weekends
- Other assigned duties as needed

**Requirements**:

- Minimum one year of experience in the general maintenance field
- Demonstrated skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of inspection procedures
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as the ability to write simple correspondence
- Basic math skills as required by the role
- Ability to problem-solve and carry out instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and function calmly in situations that require sensitivity, tack, and diplomacy
- Ability to be adaptable, reliable, and tolerate high-stress levels
- Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making skills
- First Aid Level C, Criminal Record Check with VSS, Health Assessment
