- **Field Material Manager **who will
- ** **provide mentorship, define, improve, and direct daily operations of the construction job site. This role has an overarching view of Engineering Specifications, BOM’s and Requisitions, Procurement RFQs, POs, expediting input and data, Preservation, Quality, Shipping and Receiving, Warehousing, and subsequent issue of materials to contractors at Fabrication and Construction sites.
- This position will work with Engineering, Procurement, Subcontracts, Expediting, Logistics, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Project Controls, Safety and Construction Management teams to establish site materials management plans to have a full overview of materials through all stages of the Supply Chain process. Will follow a Site Material Management Plan that has a positive impact on project execution in mitigation against late deliveries, material surplus and additional craft.
- Principal accountabilities:
The Field Material Manager is encouraged to:

- Assists in the calculation of detailed schedules for equipment, materials, and workforce with respect to schedule needs versus resource capabilities.
- Plans and implements the material management of bulk and engineered equipment, piping spools, and construction materials to support the project operations.
- Reviews material status reports to provide material delivery updates and communicate late shipments to Construction Management.
- Advises Construction Management of developments that may meaningfully affect project costs or schedules and works with project teams and suppliers to find mitigating solutions.
- Supports Project and Construction Management in the identification and assessment of risks with respect to supply of equipment and materials to the job site.
- Provides training and workshops on Corporate and project specific Materials Management practices, standards, and methodologies.
- Supports and collaborates with Construction Management and other team members on site materials management issues.
- Makes recommendations to improve, raise awareness, be knowledgeable of, and understand the current schedule on all equipment and materials; address any problems/concerns.
- Analyses material allocation forecasts and reservation, provide recommendations to the project for vital corrective action (e.g., early identification of potential surplus, efficient expediting, identify impacts of delays in material delivery and provide construction alternatives, etc.)
- Coordinates and expedites material deliveries from both the Expediting & Logistics functions to ensure no hold ups in material deliveries.
- Participates in receiving of the project materials on-site, opens packages/crates, and checks materials upon arrival for compliance to Purchase Order requirements in terms of Qty, Quality, Damage, Short receipt, storage & subsequent issue to Site Contractors.
- Records all Material deliveries via MRR (Material Receiving Receipts) in Smart Plant Materials, builds OS&D for any discrepancies for resolution by Home Office, and keeps all MIR (Material Issuing Reports).
- Be a “Hands on” Material Manager with a can-do attitude to understand where all materials are located on site & ensure Smart Plant Materials reflects true & accurate information about receiving, storing, issuing, and status of materials.
- Assists Engineering and Procurement Managers in ensuring that Shop Quality control plans and schedules are in place, and that problem and concerns are being given accurate attention.
- Issues weekly/monthly reports of site material management activities for the project showing overall status and identifying significant delivery slippages against the construction schedule.
- Maintains Materials Location Logs and Inventory Lists for ready access to equipment and materials that are on site.
- Reviews receiving and shipping notices, yard layouts and reports schedule inadequacies.
- Ensures materials management personnel meet with field construction supervisors to coordinate flow of materials to the work fronts.
- Assists in equipment preservation, follow preservation plans and procedures.
- Supports the Construction Manager in the development of worker hours and Staffing Plans and Procedures, if vital.
- Implements Material Management systems for Scheduling, Planning, Inventory, Purchasing, and Receiving modules.
