**Job Brief**:
This position provides comprehensive administration of numerous real property matters for the City of Kawartha Lakes. The incumbent will also assist the department with various projects and service requests.

Department CAO Office - Legal Services

Location 26 Francis St., Lindsay

Hours Normal Working Hours 35 hours per week

Other General office environment. Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.
- Draft Agreements of Purchase and Sale
- Draft agreements for any other limited interest in land
- Provide administrative duties on the acquisition, disposition, encumbering and leasing of real property
- Prepare standard property reports to Council
- Prepare reports for the Land Management Committee and City departments
- Populate and maintain a comprehensive electronic database of the City’s real property information
- Prepare title corrections
- Research and interpret deeds, agreements and plans as they relate to real property
- Liaise with relevant internal departments
- Maintain project files and plan files in an orderly fashion
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to track projects and invoices
- Review invoices, statements of adjustment and agreements for accuracy
- Respond to inquiries from the public and internal departments
- Co-ordinate external assistance (of surveyors, appraisers and lawyers)
- Assist the City with investigating opportunities for cost savings in areas of maintenance, operations and contracts while still providing exceptional levels of quality
- Perform other related duties as assigned\

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary Law Clerk diploma
- Minimum 3 years work experience in a legal capacity, preferably in a municipal setting
- Membership in the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario
- Demonstrated knowledge of real property law, preferably municipal law
- Demonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretion
- Demonstrated customer-service and interpersonal skills at a level to develop and to maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, and the ability to deal with multiple demands
- Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
- Demonstrated ability to understand and abide by municipal policies and procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software, such as Teraview and Conveyancer
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check will be required
