Trouw Nutrition’s Companion Animal business is focused on advancing nourishment of the world’s pets by providing premium pet food companies with the highest-quality custom ingredient blends supported by exceptional customer care and nutrition expertise.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated **Buyer**-**Sourcing** **Ingredients **with a specialization in sourcing micro ingredients for companion animal products. You will procure high-quality ingredients necessary to produce nutritious and safe companion animal premix, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

**About The Role: Buyer Excellence**

**Responsibilities**:

- Source and procure raw micro ingredients and additives required for the production of companion animal products, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery
- Identify, initiate and coordinate procurement improvement projects with the objective to generate cost savings in direct spend categories while working with national and global ingredient team
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts to optimize purchasing decision
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production to identify ingredient requirements and specifications, ensuring alignment with product formulations and quality standards
- Gather and report local market trends, information and supplier analysis across the regions to identify opportunities
- Establish and manage regional key supplier relationships, establish new vendor relationships and related purchase agreements
- Conduct market research and stay abreast on industry trends, pricing fluctuations and regulatory changes affecting ingredient sourcing; incorporate findings into procurement strategies
- Evaluate supplier performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as quality, reliability, and delivery performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Participate in Supply Chain Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing initiatives

**Skills and Expertise**

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, related field or equivalent. _MBA-nice to have_
- Minimum of 2- 4 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in the companion animal, livestock, aqua culture industries
- Position can be located in Highland, IL US, St. Mary's or Puslinch, ON, Canada
- Must be able to travel 5-10% between the US and Canada (B1/B2 visa is not eligible)
- Highly knowledgeable of ingredient sourcing, procurement processes and supply chain best practices
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to pet food and companion animal nutrition preferred
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools-_PMP experience -nice to have_
- Experience with M3 -ERP or SAP software
- Experienced user of MS suite Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Power BI
- A passionate commitment to Quality, Safety and Ethical sourcing practices
