The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

**Reports to**: Gallery Manager
**Supervises**: Bar Supervisors, Bartenders, Bussers, Food Runners, Coat Check Staff
**Employee Status**: Full time, Permanent, Hourly
**Hours per Week**: 37.5
**Compensation**: $23.00 per hour
**Position Purpose**:
As Gallery Assistant Manager (Administration), you’ll be responsible for the behind-the-scenes operations of the Gallery, ensuring sales goals and cost targets are met. You will work in close cooperation with the Gallery Manager and assist in all elements of restaurant management.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure the successful and safe operation of the Gallery, providing an excellent guest experience and quality management
- Book and coordinate events and reservations
- Prepare and send out invoices and ensure payment is received
- Analyze and plan sales levels and profitability
- Schedule FOH staff
- Prepare reports at the end of the shift/week, including staff control, food control and sales
- Assist in planning and coordination of menu
- Order and process invoices for all liquor and beer/wine suppliers
- Actively managing the social media presence of the outlets in cooperation with the Communications and Events managers
- Maintaining and utilizing all computer hard
- & software according to AMS guidelines
- Achieve sales goals through ongoing promotions, events, sales trainings, inventory management and menu engineering
- Meet cost targets through analyzing cost centers and adjusting inventory levels, labor and expenses
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) years’ restaurant, QSR or Pub management experience
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience will be considered in lieu of full experience requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality or a related field is an asset
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
- Working knowledge of Point of Sale (Squirrel), Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required
- Inventory management software knowledge (ideally Optimum Control) is an asset
- Experience working with youth or in a collegiate environment is an asset
- Serving-It-Right Certification required
- Food Safe Level 1 or higher required
- Driver’s license is required
- Ability to lift 25kg (55lbs)
- Ability to do work evenings or weekends as required
