**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Lead PEI Inspector, the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Analyst is responsible for implementing, facilitating, and providing continuous updates to a sustainable Risk Based Inspection process using NWR’s RBI procedure while ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the work processes. The RBI Analyst role includes RBI for all pressure equipment (reactors, columns, pressure vessels, fired equipment, heat exchangers, etc.) and piping components.
This position will work very closely with the Unit Inspectors, Lead Inspector, Materials and Corrosion Engineer along with relevant disciplines of the RBI team (Process-Engineers, Process Safety, Operations and Maintenance) for proper RBI inputs.
**Responsibilities**:
- Execute and implement the RBI strategy per NWR’s RBI and PEIM procedures;
- Ensure, the RBI is in accordance with Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) AB-505;
- Collect and collate data to aid in the development/implementation of the RBI;
- Ensure inspection results from throughout the plant are analyzed and incorporated into the RBI program to keep risks up to date;
- Update and maintain RBI tool within inspection data management software (Visions), integrity work planning, and risk assessment records;
- Provide regular reports on the RBI status and inspection schedules and proactively escalate any concerns when analysis identifies an asset integrity risk that could impact safety or reliability;
- Liaise with the RBI team to plan, schedule and facilitate the RBI sessions as required;
- Work collaboratively with unit inspectors to ensure the timely development of turnaround work list for inspection items is provided to the Operations and Turnaround teams in advance of the milestones;
- Ensure the inspection data management software (Visions) is effectively utilized by the team to systematically manage the RBI program including end of life predictions, inspection frequencies and corrective action identification;
- Support changes to corrosion circuit drawings and diagrams;
- Provide input to Inspection plans, NDE technique, Inspection coverage, extent, and inspection effectiveness based on damage mechanism;
- Provides inspection input for planning routine maintenance and turnaround jobs;
- Ensures RBI re-assessment occurs as a result of planned inspection findings, shutdowns, changes in process conditions, de-bottlenecking, or implementation of maintenance practices that have significant effects on risk;
- All other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR’s Core Competencies to drive results and a high performing culture;
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant refinery experience in Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Management. NDE or Inspection experience is desirable;
- Engineering degree or diploma in mechanical, materials, welding or metallurgy with professional license;
- A valid API 580 certification;
- Conversant with API 510, 570, certification would also be an asset;
- Understands the process equipment damage mechanisms commonly found in the refinery industry, i.e. API 571 damage mechanism affecting fixed equipment;
- Strong knowledge of applicable ASME and API Codes or Standards;
- Experience analyzing and updating inspection data in an RBI program;
- Experience using corrosion rates, remaining life and fitness for service assessments to decide when to replace, repair or re-inspect a piece of equipment;
- Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
- A motivated self-starter with strong time management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently;
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills;
- Strong investigative skills and an ability to ask questions to draw out required information.
