**Position: Supervisor, Community Support Service Area**
The Supervisor is a member of the Community Support Service Area and Leadership Team at North End Women’s Centre. The Supervisor works collaboratively with the Program Manager and supports and supervises the following teams and programs: counselling; newcomer and settlement; drop in; family advocate; parent and family; and healing and wellness
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in the social services field (Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered)
- Minimum two (2) years experience providing supervision to frontline staff.
- A working knowledge and experience with Human Resources, Program Development and Supervision
- Experience supporting community with complex needs, such as trauma, gender-based violence, people with hidden and visible disabilities; problematic substance use; homelessness; poverty; and sexual exploitation.
- Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of groups and programs for women, gender-diverse and non-binary people
- Experience working in a community-based setting in the North End of Winnipeg is an asset
- Experience working in a cross-functional team.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership, coordination and supervisory skills.
- Strong consultative and conflict management skills.
- Strong time management, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work on multiple tasks, adjust quickly to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, and handle pressure situations.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude, a sense of humour, energy, and a high degree of initiative and flexibility within a professional setting.
- Strong computer skills and experience in related software, including proficiency in Word, Excel and Access.
- Knowledge of, and experience working with Indigenous people particularly in terms of the historical context, traditions, teachings as well as the unique barriers Indigenous women face.
- Knowledge of the impacts of poverty, problematic substance use; sexual exploitation, homelessness, mental health, and violence on women.
- Ability to work with a harm reduction lens
- Non-judgemental and accepting attitude.
- Ability to deal with crises and escalations in an appropriate manner.
- Understanding of and commitment to a strength based and solution-oriented approach.
- Provides support in delivery of HR functions, including performance appraisal, training and development.
- Ability to write proposals and program reports.
- Knowledge of evaluation processes and data collection.
**Additional Requirements**
- Valid Class 5 license.
- Access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To support, mentor, and provide guidance to the community support team.
- Provide direct supervision to the community support team in collaboration with the Program Manager, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures within the Employee Policy & Procedure Manual.
- To facilitate monthly Supervision Meetings.
- To facilitate monthly Team Meetings in collaboration.
- To conduct orientations with new staff, students, or volunteers within the service area as outlined in the Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.
- To initiate and conduct annual performance reviews for the team
- To respond to grievances brought forward from staff and participants within the team as outlined in the Employee Policy and Procedure Manual as necessary.
- To oversee program statistics for the Community support programs
- To prepare and submit monthly program reports to the Program Manager.
- To participate in Leadership meetings.
- To participate in staff meetings.
- To participate in relevant training opportunities as required.
- To participate in annual performance reviews.
- To attend community events and meetings and to sit on community committees as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned, consistent with this job description and approved by the Associate Executive Director
