We're looking for a full-time Lead Carpenter to join our team.
You are someone who:
- Works well in a team environment, is self-motivated and able to lead and manage others
- Someone with strong organizational skills and keeps a clean work environment
- Can interpret technical specifications (blueprints, drawings, instructions, spec sheets, etc.)
- Has strong communication skillset, interacting with clients regularly
- Has a strong work ethic (punctual, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently)
Key Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License and access to an appropriate work vehicle
- 10+ years of experience in the residential construction industry (on-the-tools)
- Completion of the carpentry apprenticeship program and/or Red Seal Certification (preferred)
- Advance experience in concrete forming, framing and interior/exterior finishing
- Experience in residential renovations, home additions and/or new builds
- Experience scheduling and managing internal labour forces for small projects
Key Duties
- Work with the construction team on residential renovations and additions, completing carpentry tasks and assisting with manual labour and materials management
- Ensures that job sites are clean and organized, particularly before/after major work is completed and at the end of each day
- Reviews plans/scope of work to identify and remove roadblocks to successful completion of project tasks, coordinating with Site Supervisors as needed
- Reviews plans/scope of work to forecast material and site equipment needs, coordinating with Site Supervisors to ensure needs are met
- Works within safety requirements and notifies the Site Supervisor of any safety concerns
- Coaches team members to improve existing skills and learn new ones
- Reviews team member’s work, correcting deficiencies and providing constructive feedback
- Schedules and directs team members according to project plans
- Potential to oversee projects from start to finish, working to complete tasks in the allocated hours, on schedule, and within the scope
