**What will you do?**
Reporting to the Vice President of National Affairs, the Bilingual Legislative Coordinator will support the federal affairs team in Ottawa. You will play a central and important role in supporting all activities of the Ottawa team focused on addressing federal legislative issues.
**Responsibilities**:
Legislative & National Affairs Support
- Coordinate and book meetings with Members of Parliament, Senators, senior level public officials and other stakeholders as needed.
- Assist the national legislative team with the creation and communication of various legislative documents such as letters, submissions, Excel graphs and PowerPoint presentations.
- Assist the legislative team in researching and compiling information on certain topics when needed.
- Participate in strategic meetings.
- Proofread and translate documents.
- Create, format, and maintain shared document libraries.
- Help with creating content and manage posts on CFIB’s Twitter account.
- Assist in writing internal communications and send out the newsletter for federal MPs.
- Work collaboratively with team members from various CFIB offices across Canada.
- Help with creating short videos, infographics, and other communications materials.
- Plan internal and external conferences.
- Participate in special or ad hoc projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Administrative Work
- Work with the Vice-President of National Affairs to handle general administrative work including responding to general inquiries, completing expense reports, booking and coordinating travel arrangements, paying invoices, ordering office supplies, liaising with building maintenance, and coordinating office team meetings.
**What makes a successful Bilingual Legislative Coordinator, National Affairs?**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
- Post-secondary degree in politics, policy, economy, government relations, administration or a related field.
- Experience in a similar support role in non-profits, politics, business association or private sectors is an asset.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Diplomacy, discretion, and relationship management skills.
- Able to work independently and equally effectively as part of a fast-paced team.
- Organizational skills, ability to work with changing priorities and deadlines.
- A solid team player with interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
