- **Reporting to the VP of Philanthropy, the Development Specialist is a key member of the Development team, playing a pivotal role in driving the Foundation’s mission to support the health and well-being of women and newborn health across British Columbia.**_
The Development Specialist ensures alignment between fundraising priorities and hospital needs. This individual will facilitate collaboration, communication, and strategic coordination across departments to enhance the Foundation’s capacity to secure meaningful philanthropic support. This role will contribute to donor engagement strategies, campaign planning, proposal development, and impact reporting—ensuring that fundraising activities are informed by the priorities of the Foundation and responsive to the interests of our community of supporters. The Development Specialist plays a vital role in transforming hospital priorities into compelling cases for support, enabling the Foundation to reach and exceed its fundraising goals.
- **Key accountabilities include**_:_
- Develop and execute a comprehensive donor relations strategy aligned with the Foundation’s goals.
- Manage the donor recognition program: including annual reports, donor wall and hospital naming opportunities and donor appreciation events.
- Develop and implement personalized stewardship strategies for donors at all levels.
- Work with hospital staff on setting up the appropriate donor tours of specialized areas that align with the Foundation’s funding priorities.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to produce donor newsletters, impact stories, and annual reports.
- Craft tailored stewardship communications, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and recognition materials for the various giving levels.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Coordinate and execute donor recognition programs, ensuring timely and meaningful acknowledgments.
- Work closely with the Development team to align stewardship efforts with fundraising goals
- Maintain a stewardship calendar and manage execution of touchpoints, ensuring donors are engaged meaningfully and regularly.
- Plan and coordinate donor appreciation events and initiatives, both virtual and in-person.
- Prepare donor impact reports, proposals, and correspondence that demonstrate the Foundation’s gratitude and outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and support donor relations staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity.
- Stay informed on trends in donor relations and philanthropy within healthcare and hospital foundation sectors.
- Provide administrative support to the VP, including scheduling, meeting preparation, donor briefing notes, and tracking follow-up actions related to donor engagement.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and strategic documents related to major and corporate donors.
- Coordinate and monitor progress on key projects and priorities for the Philanthropy department as directed by the VP.
**Qualifications: Education + Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of expertise in donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit development, with proven success in donor stewardship and relationship management.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office suite.
- Passion for women’s health and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
