The Arthur Sommer Rotenberg (ASR) Chair in Suicide Studies at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto was established through the University of Toronto in 1997, the first chair of its kind in Canada. The ASR Suicide and Depression Studies Program leads intervention research, while also spearheading education, advocacy, and community outreach initiatives.

The ASR Suicide and Depression Studies Program is currently looking for a **Research Assistant I**. This position provides organization and administrative support to research projects at a basic level. Tasks may include execution of research projects, liaising with the study team, research ethics boards, and third-party vendors, collecting and recording data, limited processing of data, and manuscript preparation.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Running research protocols for clinical trials
- Screening data for study inclusion according to protocol and consenting participants
- Interacting with various hospital departments such as the inpatient and emergency department staff, research ethics board, medical records, etc.
- Administrative duties: e.g. filing, faxing, mailings, courier services, photocopying, ordering supplies and maintaining inventory, etc.
- Limited processing of data
- Conducting literature searches, manuscript and grant preparation
- Present research related information, including written study reports when necessary
- Collecting, transcription and entry of study related data

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience conducting clinical research related to psychiatry
- Progressively responsible experience in a clerical position
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
- Basic computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing
- Able to keep written records
- Able to understand written and verbal directions
- Superior organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
