**Renovation Carpenter**

We are looking to hire a renovation carpenter to perform residential renovations according to the plans. A renovation carpenter should be able to perform all the works from demolition to finish except electric & plumbing works.

To be successful as a renovation carpenter, you should be able to interpret blueprints and have sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations, excellent problem-solving skills and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

- Analyzing blueprints and drawings to determine the structural dimensions of the framework to be constructed
- Examining building materials to identify any defects
- Interior renovations including but not limited to demolition, installing drywall, mud & tape, installing tiles & flooring, installing door, trims & baseboard, painting
- Exterior renovations including but not limited to house wrapping & siding
- Erecting temporary structures such as scaffolding.
- Performing cleanups of job sites by clearing away all carpentry debris and waste

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

- The ability to perform residential renovation by himself/herself in coordination with electrician & plumber without supervision
- Hard-worker, good attitude, and team player
- Passionate about carpentry and takes pride in what they do
- Sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
- Physical strength and stamina
- The ability to interpret blueprints
- The ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum requirement is 5 years’ carpentry experience
- Must have plenty experience on interior renovation
- Working at heights certification requirement (1 day course)
- Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices
- Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.

TRANSPORTATION
- Must have your own vehicle, a valid drivers license and insurance.

**Job Type**: Contract

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- carpentry: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (required)
