**We are seeking for a Home Support Worker**
**(Toronto, Scarborough, and North York)**
**What will be your role?**
The Home Support Worker at VHA is responsible for providing practical household assistance to people in their homes. In our HSW services you’ll do more than provide services to clients; you’ll build strong, long-lasting relationships, we support clients and staff through client and family centered care, well-connected healthcare teams, and continual improvement support people with low or fixed income who are unable to take care of their home. Our clients range from those with mental health issues, who live alone, are elderly, are physically challenged, or at risk for being institutionalized and losing their home.
An HSW is required to perform various household duties including but not limited to housekeeping, laundry, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, making beds. Duties vary from client to client ranging from light to heavy housekeeping. This position is physically demanding and consists of repetitive tasks on a day to day and home to home basis.

**Required Qualifications**:
- Experience in providing homemaking and cleaning services
- Possess a compassionate and flexible nature, and a client-centered approach to home support
- Interest and willingness to work with a diverse client base including clients who are elderly, physically challenged, or at risk for being institutionalized and losing their home
- Demonstrated ability to recognize safety issues and follow safe work practices
- Must be able to meet the physical demand requirements of the role
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel across the City of Toronto
- Effective verbal and written English language skills
- Requires good judgment, and ability to provide minor problem solving
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is a definite asset
- Ability to speak a second language is a definite asset
- Availability needed: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
