Anne Métis Community Association is an independent, vibrant Métis community whose traditional territory encompasses west central and northwest Alberta. With a strong sense of community and cultural identity and the recent recognition of our section 35 rights by the Province of Alberta, Lac Ste. Anne Métis acts in service to its members by being involved in activities that are occurring within our traditional territory, both in terms of regulatory oversight and economic development. The Lac Ste. Anne Métis Limited Partnership ("LSAM LP") exists to benefit members of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association ("LSAMCA"). Reporting to the Director(s) of the LSAM LP, the Community Economic Development Officer ("CEDO") is responsible for conducting business leading to positive economic growth guided by the Lac Ste. Anne Métis community's traditional and contemporary values and current best business practices. We seek someone to lead the LSAM LP, including through development and implementation of strategies focused on establishing an economic base and identifying new or emerging areas of economic opportunity, including with private industry, municipalities, and other partners. This role emphasizes business venture development for the LSAM LP that includes, but is not limited to, renewable and non-renewable resource development. KEY TASKS - Responsible for Participating in the Development of a Economic Development Strategy and for its Implementation - Responsible for Economic Growth, Diversification and Liaison aligned with the Strategic Plan - Responsible for Managing Existing Business Partnerships and Developing New Ones - Responsible for Capacity Building and Grant Writing, where appropriate - Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the LSAM LP - Responsible for Recruiting and Overseeing Staff to Support the Operational Needs of the LSAM LP, where appropriate - Responsible to Work in Collaboration with Accounting Personnel Regarding the Financial Responsibilities of the LSAM LP QUALIFICATIONS Degree in community development, business, commerce, economics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven (7) or more years of experience in community or economic development. Three (3) or more years in a management role. Experience in new venture development. Professional network that includes established relationships with industry stakeholders, corporations, and other business contacts Experience with Indigenous procurement, supply chain management, joint ventures and/or partnership arrangements. Competency with computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining trust with business partners. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, and strengths in negotiation. Knowledge of Indigenous rights, history, culture, and current socioeconomic issues. Proven track record for building, developing, and coordinating successful projects. Other assets you may bring to the table that are preferred, but not required: - A professional economic development designation (Ec.D., TAED, PAED). - Experience with grant writing.
