Job Summary

**A Brief Overview**
The Research Outreach and Events Coordinator will provide administrative and hands-on support in executing a variety of research events, both big and small, local and distant, to advance the mandate of the Vice-Principal Research portfolio. This exciting role is fast-paced, deadline driven, and has a strong customer service focus. A positive can-do attitude is a must, along with a strength in relationship building.

An important aspect of the role is the coordination of Science Rendezvous Kingston, Science Literacy Week, and Science Odyssey. Working with the Science Rendezvous Kingston Event Director, the incumbent will assist with the planning, management, scheduling, messaging, logistics, and monitoring of events on behalf of parties both internal (Queen's faculty, staff, and students) and external (City of Kingston, Rogers Radio, Leon's Centre, members of the public).

**Job Description**:

**What you will do**
- Plans and coordinates key and/or high-profile conferences, international visits, and other events.
- Reviews and approves contracts up to $10,000 for venues and other supplier goods and services.
- Coordinates logistics to ensure events meet objectives.
- Prepares preliminary budgets.
- Maintains and updates databases.
- Prepares and updates program policies.
- Performs accounting and bookkeeping activities for events including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, reconciliations and reports.
- Prepares content for websites and other marketing material.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

**Required Education**
- Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

**Required Experience**
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
