Electromechanical Technician - Optical Instruments (Ontario based)

POSITION PURPOSE

Essilor-Luxottica supports the optical and optometry industries with a range of instruments and equipment. Axis Medical Canada is a subsidiary of Essilor-Luxottica and its expertise concerns optometry and finishing instruments. We develop solutions to help eye care professionals in the adjustment and assembly of lenses, equipping their stores with ophthalmic instruments, diagnostic equipment, measuring devices, tools and consumables.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair, calibrate and install equipment at the client’s business site (occasionally from the office);
Provide telephone technical support to clients, technicians and sales representatives in order to identify problems and provide adequate solutions;
Train clients on how to use the equipment;
Rebuild used equipment for resale;
Identify and manage the level of spare parts required to repair the equipment. Verify and label standard exchange spare parts to be returned to the head office
Manage and plan workshop and field service calls according to priorities with the cooperation of the sales representatives. Register all cases as work order cases and report travel schedule;
Prepare equipment for demonstrations at clients’ business sites and optical shows;
Visit existing clients for periodic follow-ups;
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

College degree in Electromechanical (optical knowledge is an asset);
Network and IT knowledge;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical services;
Good communication skills, both oral and written;
Valid driving license in the province of employment/location;
Able to lift up to 35 kg (75 pounds);
Flexibility for working hours on the road;
Frequent travelling required with some overnight stays.
