Working for Lower Lakes provides an opportunity for adventure, our crews visit locations and scenery around the Great Lakes that no one would otherwise see **Our rotations provide employees with an uninterrupted vacations focusing on a work - life balance and providing nearly 6 months home per season.** - "We can go where the big ships go and also where they can't"_ **Responsibilities**: - Carry out cargo orders for the loading, stowage, care and discharging of all cargo. - Responsible for the care, and maintenance of all deck equipment (non-mechanical), cargo holds, painting of the exterior/interior of the vessel and housekeeping as instructed by 1st Mate - Scraping, and clearing Cargo Holds between loads to maintain quality standards in preparation for next cargo - Tying the Vessel up and let go using wires and soft lines - Other general labour duties as assigned - Deckhands must be able to; - Confidently work from heights - Climb various types of ladders - Traverse steep inclines, and various terrain whilst cleaning Cargo Holds and performing Mooring Duties - Lift and pull heavy equipment including mooring wires, ship supplies and various cargo - Work across all seasons in sometimes challenging weather and sailing conditions **Qualifications**: - Passport and allowed entry into United States - Discharge book from Transport Canada - Must have or be able to obtain a valid Marine Medical - Marine Emergency Duties (MEDs), STCW Basic Safety, Marine Basic First Aid and Survival Craft Certifications are required after 180 days of sailing - Must pass a Criminal Record Check - Must pass a Pre-Employment Screening through Driver Check - Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to multi-task - Completion of Secondary School (preferred) **Physical Requirements**: - Lifting, pushing and pulling over 50lbs - Shoveling, scraping and sweeping - Working outside in adverse weather conditions **Benefits**: - Highly competitive wages and benefits - One of the best leave systems in the industry - Company paid travel - Tuition Assistance - Health Benefits - Employee Assistance Program
