**Position: Water and Sewer Labourer**

**Location: Sites located in and around Edmonton, reporting into our Acheson office**

**Type: Hourly**

**About Us**:
Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development, to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Offer ground support to equipment operations as well as topmen/pipelayers
- Labour activities including shoveling, side tamping, use of plate tampers, use of jumping jacks to backfill and secure pipes, as well as general tasks around site
- Running packers, both remote and ride on
- assisting with manhole and valve build ups as needed
- Spotting for heavy equipment and vehicles
- Work in a safe manner, identifying and reporting any hazards
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Out-of-town work may be available

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Must be 18 years of age
- 1 year of previous experience working in construction is an asset
- Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs unassisted
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Valid CSTS2020 certification (free online course through ACSA)
- Spotting and Flagging certification (free and provided upon hire)

**Work Schedule**:

- Monday to Saturday
- 10-12-hour shifts per day
- Overtime if required

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Edmonton, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- construction: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 Licence (required)
