The FASD Network is a community-based, provincial organization with offices in Saskatoon and Regina. The organization works to enhance the lives of individuals and families impacted by FASD.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated team member who wants to help improve the lives of individuals and families with FASD.
**Main Purpose of the Job**:
The purpose of this position is to provide support to families and individuals impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. The support provided will be to youth involved in the legal system.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Case Management**
- Provide one-on-one support to the families accessing programming. Services include:
- Developing support plans
- Providing education around FASD
- Attending meetings and appointments with families as needed
- implementing appropriate strategies and accommodations that will increase the chances for success in the home, community, school or workplace
- Support families to access existing services and/or tailor services to meet the needs of individuals with FASD and their families.
- Attend meetings, legal appointments, and court proceedings with individuals
- Attend Youth Court sittings to identify potential clients
- Work with the families and youth to prevent further involvement in the justice system
- Make referrals to service providers
- Assist families in accessing the assessment and diagnostic services available.
- Engaging with regional community professionals to educate them about the FASD and the FASD Network.
- Creating partnerships with professionals working to provide guidance and strategies that are FASD-informed.
- Develop and maintain a network of referral and community connections, related to the justice system and community agencies.
- Provide advocacy on behalf of families to ensure appropriate service provision
- Assist with Caregiver, Peer or Youth Support Meetings as needed
- Process intake paperwork and complete case notes as families access case management services
**Additional Responsibilities**
- Complete programming and case management reporting as directed
- Provide assistance with all special projects undertaken by the organization
- Respond to calls on the toll-free line
- make referrals and take action as necessary.
- When requested, deliver educational presentations and group training on behalf of the Network.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Finance and Marketing Director, Manager of the Support Program, or Coordinator.
**Other Requirements**
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as the position requires
- Travel may be expected, including overnights
- Must have access to a vehicle
**Qualifications**:
Related post-secondary education such as Bachelor of Social Work degree is an asset (but not required)
1-2 years’ experience working with families who have a member living with a cognitive disability.
Experience with court and justice system is an asset
Knowledge of FASD, its affects, and strategies in behavior management is desired.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily activities
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
