Health and Safety Specialist

**Position Scope**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Work with Safety Manager to ensure site compliance with all OHS regulations
- Responsible for implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and updating FPS Food Process Solutions Corp's occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs
- Keep updating on all safety legislation and regulations relevant to the industry and evaluate policies & procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with Occupational Health & Safety program, and government legislation & regulation
- Assist in representing management in matters of health and safety with the government, health and safety associations and other outside agencies and organizations
- Provide reports on Work Safety & Insurance Board / Workers' Compensation Board (WSIB/WCB) incidents and injuries, lost time injuries, health-related absenteeism and other occupational health and safety information
- Coordinate and/or provide guidance and direction to occupational health and safety personnel
- Assist in all incident investigations and prepare reporting, root cause analysis and follow-up of the recommendations. Informs management and supervisory personnel of the overall accident trends
- Support, arrange, and present safety orientation and training for all new employees, existing employees and visitors to ensure a complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviours within the company
- Assist in annual health & safety program audit to ensure the effectiveness of occupational health & safety programs
- Maintain proper updates of the organization's Health and Safety manuals and policies and ensure all levels of employees follow the policies and guidelines
- Other general operational duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
**Qualifications & Abilities**
- Health & Safety Certificate / Diplomas from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Minimum 3 years of professional OHS experience in the industrial/commercial/institutional sector
- Experience in manufacturing, production line, or site safety environment is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
- Must have a valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA 2) or be able to renew the certificate within the first month of work
- Available to work a variety of weekdays and including Saturdays
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to write reports clearly
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately documentation
- Fluent in English and knowledge of Chinese is desirable
- Valid Certifications or Safety Tickets are highly preferred: Forklift & Scissor lift
- Valid BC Driver's License is an asset
- Willing to travel to project sites as may require from time to time
