Aurora, Canada Summit Veterinary Pharmacy Full time

Summit Veterinary Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our busy Custom Capsules Department team.

Located in Aurora, Ontario, Summit has been supplying prescription compounded medications to veterinary clinics across Canada for over 20 years. Our mission is to set the standard for excellence in veterinary compounding; enabling veterinarians to fulfill their commitment to their clients' health and well-being.

**Principle Responsibilities**:

- Verify the prescription’s accuracy with the hard copy.
- Compounding custom and small stock prescriptions in multiple departments (chews, capsules, suspensions and TDG) as per the rotation schedule or as outlined by your Manager or Senior Manager
- Label the compounded preparation correctly [Rx label, lot label, cautionary labels and auxiliary label(s)]
- Verify the calculated label with the hard copy for accuracy.
- Manually calculate for hard copies without calculation label.
- Weigh all prescription ingredients using an analytical scale.
- Maintain an adequate stock of all of the ingredients used in the compounds.
- Assist Production personnel by mentioning any ingredients that need to be replenished.
- Maintain the general cleanliness of the equipment and area.
- Dispense the finished compound in the appropriate packaging.
- Record expired drugs in the Drug Destruction Log and dispose of them accordingly.
- Safely operate all equipment in the area, ensuring all SOPs are followed.
- Demonstrate and maintain quality compounding skills and techniques as determined by random testing.
- Assist in other areas during slow periods or times of staff shortage as outlined by your Manager or Senior Manager.
- Assist with verification checking
- Assist in the training or re-training of staff as outlined by your Supervisor

- Basic mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Able to prioritize and multi-task and maintain good time management skills.
- Willingness to learn and work in a constantly evolving environment.
- Good attention to detail
- Effective communicator
- Able to handle stress well
- Minimum 1-year employment in Custom compounding (chews, capsules, suspensions, TDG)

**Educational Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent

**Hours of Work**:

- May be required to work additional hours

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $19.00 per hour
