We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team on a fishing vessel. As the Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving healthy, homemade meals in a timely manner, while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. You will also be responsible for managing inventory and ordering groceries within a budget.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and prepare healthy, homemade meals for up to 25 crew members on a fishing vessel.
- Manage inventory and order groceries from vendors within specified budget per trip, while ensuring timely delivery and appropriate storage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the galley, pantries, and cupboards at all times, including regular cleaning and sanitizing.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of food, use of personal protective equipment, and monitoring and recording of food temperatures.
- Develop grocery lists for the next trip and order groceries 2-3 days prior to docking.
- Coordinate with the Steward for assistance in cleaning and food prep as needed.
- Perform daily routine duties, including meal preparation and clean-up, and ensure timely meal service.
- Perform offload duties, including galley cleaning, inventory management, and shift change duties.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and environmental regulations.

Pay & Schedule:

- Approximately $4,000 per trip. (Pay is based on a percentage of catch, so can vary based on success of each trip)
- In the Summer, trips are typically 1-2 weeks, and in the Winter can be longer 2-3 weeks per trip.
- The work schedule varies dependent on the vessel's fishing schedule.

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a cook, preferably in a marine or offshore setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines, including HACCP principles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with limited space and resources.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Flexibility to work long hours and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

- Port Alberni, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
