The Carpenter is responsible for the construction and repair of building frameworks and structures using various carpentry techniques, tools and machines. Attention to detail, precision and problem-solving skills are essential. General duties include but are not limited to:

- Constructing/Installing/Restoring/Finishing
- Compliance
- Communication

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Including but not limited to the following:
**CONSTRUCTING**:

- Assisting site supervisors with layout and installation
- Conduct restoration work
- Must demonstrate proficiency in constructing building frameworks including:

- Footings
- Walls
- Slabs
- Framework
- Finish exterior walls
- Installation of roofs
- Installation of decks
- Installation of beams
- Must demonstrate proficiency in:

- Framing interior walls
- Building stairs
- Installing drywall and moulding
- Installing doors and cabinets.
- Assessing the quality of materials
- Safe operation of tools, machines and other equipment
- Manual manipulation of up to 50 lbs.
- Additional constructing and general labour duties as required

**COMPLIANCE**:

- Reading blueprints, following design plans
- Compliance with OBC and local building codes
- Compliance with health and safety regulations, legislation and internal policy

**COMMUNICATION**:

- Reviewing and understanding project plans
- Understanding work duties/scope of work and working as a team to accomplish project goals
- Maintaining and communicating to supervisor a record of activities
- Communicate using digital/electronic forms, documents and timesheets
- Participate in on site health and safety meetings as required

**TOOLS**

Must come to work daily with full compliment of following tools:
Hammer Pliers
Utlity Knife Tape Measure
Hand Tools (screwdrivers etc) Tool Belt/Pouch
Pencil/Marker Chalk Line
Speed Square Framing Square

**EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE**:

- Red Seal in Carpentry
- 5-10 years of experience preferred
- Excellent critical thinking, math and mechanical skills
- Must be organized, analytical, focused on accuracy and detail oriented.
- Valid class “G” Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract

**TRAINING**:

- Working at Heights
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- WHMIS 2015
- AODA

**SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE**:

- Must possess critical thinking skills, math skills, and mechanical skills
- Must be organized, analytical, focused on accuracy and detail oriented
- Must have positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment
- Must be willing to take direction from supervisor and possess strong communication skills

Compensation commensurate to experience.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
