Restaurant Host

A Host is _responsible for greeting, welcoming and seating customers_ as they enter a restaurant or dining area.

**Credentials required**:

- Food Handlers Certificate
- Smart Serve.
- Experience: 1 month to 1 year
**Skills**:

- Promptly greet arriving guests in a welcoming manner
- Accommodate guests seating requirements and escort guests to table.
- Monitor dining sections for table status
- Ensure communication with serving staff to estimate waiting times
- Help expedite orders as required or Serve food and beverages, general plate service as required
- Describe menu items including daily specials for customers
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette

**Additional Skills**:

- Customer service oriented;
- Address customers complaints or concerns
- Assist customers with special needs
- Assist restaurant staff with lobby coffee and water stations
- Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
- Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
- Load bus pans and trays; Set tables
- Load and unload glasswasher
- Assist with tray and plate clearing from hallways
- Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas; Replace linen.
- Essential Skills: Reading text;

- Have knowledge of hotel fire and safety procedures.
- Maintain a high level of customer service at all times.
- Handle guest enquiries.
