Part of **Rivercity Inclusion society**, we are looking to hire a **second-chef** at Ironwood Place, a fifty-four unit senior’s assisted living community. This program provides a range of hospitality services that promote independence, choice and dignity to the seniors who live there, to include two meals a day, recreational activities and housekeeping services.

Assisted living is a model of seniors’ housing and support that addresses the gap between living independently and living in a long-term care facility. Ironwood Place provides a range of hospitality services in a home-like setting that promotes independence, choice and dignity.

Residents have to be self-reliant and able to make choices about the levels and delivery options of the services they desire and have to be able to manage their daily lives with a small degree of assistance. The other fundamental principle of assisted living is trying to keep people together, socializing, and enjoying life.

**SECOND CHEF JOB SUMMARY**
- Prepares, cooks, bakes and serves meals and snacks, including those for special dietary needs and special occasions, in accordance with safety and health standards and the menu plan.
- Supervises activities of servers and bussers.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of cooking facilities and equipment.
- Reviews the meal preparation needs of the facility.
- Assists in maintaining an inventory of food and other related items. Stores food items.
- Performs other related duties as required

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 10 education
- Graduation from a program or institution or residential quantity cooking.
- Food Safe Certificate Level 2
- Consent to a Criminal Record Check
- Negative Tuberculin test
- Current Emergency First Aid - Industry Certificate

**SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Ability to work as a productive and interactive team member.
- Ability to deal effectively and calmly in crisis situations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

**HOURS OF WORK**

(Initially 30 per week - temporary): Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 11am-7pm.

Reducing to 20 per week (permanent): Sunday 2-7pm, Monday and Tuesday 11am-7pm.

This is a unionized position.

**Rate of pay increases to a maximum of $28.16 after 6001 hours worked.**

All staff working at Ironwood Place must be double vaccinated against Covid-19 under the Public Health Order

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Campbell River, BC V9W 5Z7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (required)

Shift availability:
